Prohibition took effect in 1919 and ended with the ratification of the 21st amendment to the Constitution on January 17, 1933. We opened virtually the next day and remain in the same location on Wayland Square to this day. As was the case in 1933, when you enter the shop you're dealing with the owner. He's the guy who has the most at stake in ensuring that your shopping experience exceeds your expectations every single time. It's been working for a very long time.

On Thursday - December 15th (6:00 - 8:00 pm) South African Wines. Get familiar with these really fine wines. Great values and drinkable now. We sampled First Sighting 2010 Sauvignon Blanc and 2008 Pinot Noir along with 2008 Big Flower Cabernet Sauvignon; all served with pastries celebrating the 78th anniversary of Wayland Square Fine Wine and Spirits. 10% off all wines tasted was offered to attendees.

We are very proud of our vintage cellar collection, which has been accumulated over a period of several years.
This extensive collection of unique and collectable wines is stored on racks in a separate humidity and temperature controlled room to ensure that the wines are always at their best.

Robert Parker (photo left) publishes The Wine Advocate; one of the most influential consumer guides to fine wines.
To gain access to all of the content available on his site, you must be a subscriber, however, a lot of really valuable content is free of charge.
One thing we found of particular interest is his vintage rating chart. This chart provides ratings on all of the regions and varietals rated durring the period 1981 through 2010 - a great reference for consumers from novice to afficionado.
Even the great years (2009, 2005, 1990...) were not equally great in every wine region or great for every varietal. Click on his photo and take a look. We're sure that you will find this of value, whether you are a collector or purchaser of a particular bottle.
